Who is Daryl Jackson?
Daryl Jackson, known in real life as Daryl Verzosa, is a professional Michael Jackson tribute artist From Baguio City.
He was born in Bontoc, Mountain Province, Philippines. He discovered his passion for dance at the young age of 7, but it was in June 2009—after the world lost the King of Pop—that his journey truly began. Deeply inspired by Michael Jackson's legacy, Daryl started creating dance tribute videos as a way to honor his idol, not knowing that it would grow into a lifelong calling.
Over the years, Daryl’s dedication and love for MJ's craft led him to become one of the most respected tribute performers in the Philippines. His journey of over 15 years as an MJ tribute artist has earned him recognition not only on stage but also in the wider dance community. In 2010, he was crowned Grand Champion of Magsaysay National High School Baguio's Got Talent after a standout MJ performance, a moment that solidified his identity as a performer.
In 2023, he founded The 2600 Moonwalkers, a performance crew based in Baguio that brings Michael Jackson’s timeless artistry to both intimate and large-scale stages. Through his leadership and vision, the group continues to inspire audiences and pass on the essence of MJ’s performance style.
Daryl is also a former dance instructor at Rhythmus Dance Studio where he started teaching in 2017, sharing his skills with aspiring dancers and young talents.
Because of his consistency, and humility, he has earned the title “The Cordilleran Michael Jackson”, a name that reflects both his roots and his role in representing MJ’s legacy in the northern Philippines.
In 2025, Daryl received a major milestone when he was honored at the Asia’s Leadership Excellence Distinction Awards as the “Most Inspiring Tribute Artist of the Year.” This award recognized not only his performance skills but also his ability to uplift and motivate others through dance, discipline, and a deep sense of purpose.
Through every move, spin, and moonwalk, Daryl keeps the spirit of Michael Jackson alive—not with impersonation, but with genuine respect and love for the art that first inspired him.
